Santiago Calatrava’s creative process subject of new documentary
The film focuses on his recently completed World Trade Center transit hub.
New York filmmaker Alexandra Liveris has turned her lens on architect Santiago Calatrava, exploring his artistic and architectural perspective as construction wrapped on his World Trade Center transit hub.
But, in the documentary, Calatrava focuses on the project’s design and inspiration.
“The first goal in this place was to deliver something beautiful where such an ugliness was there before,” he says in the film.
“To deliver something optimistic looking to the future where so much sadness and depression was there.”
As the film shows, art is a source of inspiration for Calatrava, who also paints and sculpts.
